LEDVANCE in Home Assistant: How to assess lighting compatibility
October 18, 2026
LEDVANCE has joined the Works with Home Assistant program with 116 certified devices. Here’s what that means when choosing lighting and how to check whether a device suits your setup.
What the LEDVANCE announcement means
On October 13, 2026, Home Assistant announced that LEDVANCE had joined the Works with Home Assistant program with 116 certified devices. This expands the options for people who manage lighting through Home Assistant.
The certification is a useful starting point, but it does not mean every device has the same capabilities. Check the exact model and its features before buying.
Check the specific device
Lighting devices in the same category can offer different capabilities. Before choosing one, decide whether you need only on/off control or also dimming, color changes, or group control. Do not assume that every model offers all of these features.
Check the connection and setup requirements for the device you choose, too. If you already have Home Assistant at home, compare those requirements with your current setup, then test the basic controls and automations after installation.
Start with a small area
For an initial test, choose one room or a group of lights. This makes it easier to find out whether Home Assistant control is convenient, whether the required routines work as expected, and whether the controls suit the people who live in the home.
Keep a familiar way to turn on the lights, such as a wall switch, if it is compatible with the solution you choose. Smart control should support everyday use rather than make it dependent on a phone or a complex automation.
Plan for power availability
In a Ukrainian home, it is worth considering how lighting will work during power outages. A smart bulb or other lighting device cannot help without power; control through Home Assistant may also depend on power for the network equipment and controller.
For essential lighting, consider available backup power or an independent flashlight. LEDVANCE’s expanded range of certified devices gives you more options to evaluate, but the reliability of a particular solution depends on the chosen model, its setup, and conditions in the home.
